ODE TO TOM BROWN'S

Our praise rings out, it soars, resounds,

for we have just dined at the Restaurant Tom Brown's

We were greeted so promptly as we entered the door

noticed spacious surroundings and elegant decor.

From the height of our table to the excellent chairs,

attention to detail was just one of their flares.

As we sat down to dine, we were conscious of space,

of the privacy and comfort and that we set the pace.

Given time, plus advice as we planned what to eat

whilst the pre-meal drinks, gave our palettes a treat.

With a menu so varied it was a challenge to choose,

from the starters and main course whilst sharing our news.

The food was superb, well presented, full-flavoured,

imaginative sauces were included and savoured.

Whilst fine wine refreshed the taste buds and tongue,

we were content in our world, and nothing was wrong.

Too soon it was over, this occasion so fine.

the coffee was finished, the dessert so divine.

Our thanks to the hosts for professional flare,

for enhancing the day, an answer to prayer.

For this as my birthday, three score years and ten,

and with this, my poem, I thank them again.

Now all that is left is to long and to yearn,

And look to the future, when at last I return.
