It’s that time of year again. Suits are getting a last-minute dry clean, dresses are agonisingly chosen and acceptance speeches written, rewritten, then forgotten again. The Nottingham Bar and Restaurant Awards 2017/18 are drawing ever closer, and even though this nerve-wracking night can be make even our head chef a little wobbly, at Tom Browns we see the Nottingham Restaurant and Bar Awards as a true celebration of the exceptionally high quality of restaurants and bars in Nottingham, and a mark of the incredible work each business puts in.

Up for the public voted ‘Best Independent Out of Town Restaurant’, ‘Best Front of House Team’, ‘Nottinghamshire’s Restaurant of the Year’, and the industry picked ‘Best Cocktail’ award, we’re immensely proud of how much we’ve achieved as a restaurant, and we want to say a huge thank you to all of the diners who love us and have voted for us (if you didn’t, don’t worry; there’s always next year’s awards)! Why don’t you celebrate with our ‘Best Cocktail’ entry Mary’s Berry, and watch how our gin and raspberry based cocktail with apple and port ‘caviar’, topped with a prosecco foam, is made here.

As proud as we are of our own nominations, we want to be able to share with you some of the incredible talent that Nottingham has to offer. Hopeful contenders for ‘Nottingham’s Best Kept Secret’, the Boilermaker (complete with an incredible list of cocktails to make your night out start, or end, with a bang), Hockley Arts Club (with 3 different themed rooms, you can wine and dine in whatever setting suits your mood) and Lost Property Secret Bar (a venue shrouded in mystery, where you fill in an appointment card online and turn up to a location, letting the evening take you) are all well worth checking out if you want a night out with a difference.

The other entrants are certainly no exception, with ‘Best Gastro Pub’ hopefuls Gusto (filled to the rafters with Italian delights, where the kids can make their own pizza and the wine list is to die for), and the Botanist (carefully curated cocktails, rotisserie and deli board mains set in a secret garden) both deliver on food, cocktails and atmosphere.

With the nominations chosen at the end of the year and the awards ceremony set for January, we wish all of the restaurants and bars involved luck AND feel so fortunate to part of such an incredible city that’s full of variety, talent and delicious food and drink!
